IHETS Named Finalist for TechPoint Mira Award

Today, TechPoint released the finalists for the prestigious Mira Awards Program presented by BKD CPAs & Advisors. IHETS was named finalist in the category of Education Contribution - Department/Program/Team. The 2009 winners will be announced at an “Oscars-style” award ceremony being held Saturday, May 16 at The Westin Indianapolis.

Now in its 10th year, the 2009 TechPoint Mira Awards presented by BKD represent the top technology businesses, business professionals and educators in the state of Indiana. Four independent panels of judges chose 63 finalists from a record number of nominations in 11 categories this year.

According to the 2009 TechAmerica CyberStates report, Indiana's high-tech economy employs more than 71,000 technology professionals representing an annual payroll of $4.2 billion. CyberStates reports that these in-demand positions pay an average of $83,000 annually, more than double Indiana's latest reported per-capita income of $32,000.

Executive Director Search Now Open

Today, the IHETS Board of Directors launched its search for a new Executive Director to replace Dr. Dennis A. Trinkle, who has moved on to the Provost and Chief Academic Officer role at Harrison College. The search is open through September 30, with the intention of a new Executive Director starting January 1, 2010.

Lacy Executive Leadership Series (SKL).   Each year, 25 emerging young leaders are selected from a pool of applicants to participate in this highly-competitive program.  Candidates are chosen on the basis of significant community involvement and professional achievement, demonstrated interest in community issues, a record of participation and achievement in voluntary community activities, and willingness to expand their leadership within the community.  The program aims to expand the ranks of community leadership by providing class members with the knowledge and incentive to confront the needs of central Indiana.

IHETS/I-Light Inform Members of Available Stimulus Funding

IHETS and I-Light are pleased to inform you that the National Science Foundation (NSF) will invest $200 million in the Nation’s research facilities and research training infrastructure as a result of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARI-R2).
