IHETS is excited to be named official technology partner in several ongoing member projects, a few of which are listed below. Please check back as this page will be updated frequently to highlight different projects and partnerships.
Purdue University: AgComm Electronic Field Trip Project
Congratulations to the Purde zipTrips Team for being named the recipient of an Accolade Award of Merit for 2009! Their show We're All Animals has been rewarded for its excellence by The Accolade TV Awards in the Live Television Event category. As the award letter states, "[Purdue] can be justifyably proud of winning an Accolade. The judging standards are high and winning means the craft and creativity exhibited...is outstanding and stands above other productions. In winning an Accolade, Purdue joins the ranks of other high-profile winners of this internationally respected award." Visit www.accoladecompetition.org for more information about the award and how Purdue achieved this success.
The Electronic Field Trip Project at Purdue University ("Zip Trips") is designed to bring Purdue scientists directly into middle-school classrooms via technology. This project is funded by a five-year grant from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute and is a joint effort by Purdue’s School of Veterinary Medicine, College of Agriculture, and Discovery Learning Center. Together, these groups have launched an initiative to develop three electronic field trips—one each for students in grades 6, 7, and 8. These field trips will offer middle-school students the opportunity to visit Purdue—observing scientists in their laboratories and interacting with these scientists—without leaving their classrooms. IHETS provided technology support for the Zip Trips interactive pilot program in November 2008. Learn more about Purdue's Zip Trips.
Midwest Alliance for Health Education (MAHE)
MAHE is a consortium of health care organizations representing the states of Michigan, Kansas, and Indiana dedicated to expanding access to quality, timely continuing professional education for health care professionals. The collaboration began in early 2008 as a result of the Midwest Alliance for Telehealth and Technology Resources, a federally funded Telehealth Resource Center serving Indiana, Kansas and Michigan. IHETS is the technology provider of record for MAHE, helping the alliance to maximize the resources of successful continuing education content providers and make them available to health care professionals who might be facing challenges in accessing quality interactive programming, particularly for those serving rural communities.
