Home Institution Model
The cornerstone of the Indiana College Network is the Home Institution Model (HIM),most,
but not all, colleges and universities that promote their classes and programs through ICN
participate in the ICN Home Institution Model.
The Home Institution Model allows students to register for, and receive comparable credit,
at their home institution (the institution that will process a student's enrollment,
maintain their records, issue their grands and grant credit, provide financial aid services,
and grant the degree if the student is degree seeking) for courses at other participating ICN
institutions (Originating Institutions - from where the course originates or is taught)
without jeopardizing their financial-aid status with assurance of course transferability.
