2010 ICN Coordinators Conference information now available! 

The Indiana College Network (ICN) is a collaborative service offered by IHETS that helps to elevate the visibility and awareness of online learning opportunities in Indiana. The ICN provides comprehensive information about courses offered by consortium members through its searchable online database of undergraduate, graduate, and continuing education classes and programs (credit and noncredit). It also facilitates and supports a network of learning centers throughout the state, providing an online email inquiry system, and a toll-free hotline for student support.

The ICN serves as a critical inter-institutional information and enrollment services clearinghouse and plays a critical role in helping member institutions and the state address the educational and workforce development needs of Indiana’s citizens, quality, affordable, and accessible distance education opportunities are will be essential to Indiana's success in a knowledge economy. 

Through the ICN, consortium members may arrange for their students to take classes at other institutions while preserving student financial aid eligibility. In 2007, more than 4,000 Indiana students registered in online courses through the ICN website.

Inter-institutional registration:
The Home Institution Model

IHETS works to facilitate access and attainment through its Home Institution Model and centralized enrollment services. The ICN Home Institution Model allows students to enroll in online courses outside of their home institution, treating these courses as if they were being offered at their own home institution. The model was revised in 2008 to encourage broader participation by Indiana colleges and universities, and includes a new formula for passing course funding between institutions to ensure a more equitable distribution.
