IHETS governance

Overview

IHETS’ enabling legislation provides that “the universities shall establish a coordinating unit or other body composed of persons that the universities select,” that this body “has the authority to administer and supervise the use of the transmission system...” and that “the universities shall have equal representation on the coordinating unit or body.”

As a statewide consortium of higher education institutions and educational partners operating multiple networks and educational services, IHETS is governed by several standing committees. Through representation on these committees and working groups, individual consortium members and partners are able to express a collective voice in determining the best course of action for IHETS policies, programs, and services.

Faculty, staff, administrators, and other consortium members—as well as interested individuals and members of the general public—are welcome to attend all open meetings of the IHETS board and committees, though only board members have the authority to vote on policies and action items.
