Overview

As a primary leadership group within IHETS, the Indiana Partnership for Statewide Education (IPSE) plans and implements e-learning and related initiatives and services. One or more delegates from each IHETS member institution serves on the committee, along with representatives from the public library community, K-12 education, public broadcasting, and other educational service providers.

Charge

• Function as steering committee for the Indiana College Network (ICN).
• Formulate state-level plans for improving, expanding, and targeting distance learning opportunities among partner communities in Indiana.
• Coordinate academic and learner support matters pertaining to inter-institutional distance learning initiatives.
• Provide faculty, student, and program administration perspectives for continuing enhancement of distance learning technologies.

Specific responsibilities

• Encourage partners to identify their areas of greatest interest in delivering lifelong learning via technology and communicate those interests.
• Encourage collaboration at all levels of academic delivery via technology and learner support services for those academic endeavors.
• Formulate state level plans for improving expanding and targeting distance learning opportunities in Indiana.
• Encourage professional development for improving the delivery of lifelong learning via technology.
• Improve and disseminate information about current and potential audiences that receive or may receive lifelong learning via technology.
• Stay informed about developing technologies with potential to support lifelong learning.
• Influence technology development by providing the perspectives of learner, faculty, and administrators.
• Expand awareness of distance learning opportunities from partner communities.
• Manage the scheduling process for use of IHETS services.
• Improve learner services for learning at a distance.
• Encourage collaboration in program development.
• Commission and manage standing teams and ad hoc task groups advise and, in specifically identified cases, carry out the responsibilities of the IPSE.
