n
the early days, adventurous faculty and students were forced to
navigate the uncharted, sometimes turbulent waters of e-learning
more or less on their own. Over the years, however, the higher
education community has come to understand that it takes more than
good teaching and a course Web site to keep an online program afloat.
Today’s distance
learners expect access to the full range of services available to
their on-campus counterparts, from academic and career counseling
to health insurance options and library support. Less visible, but
equally important, are the services on which online faculty depend,
including technology training and support, instructional design
consulting, 24x7 systems support, and copyright clearance, to
name just a few. In short, the most seaworthy e-learning programs
have been able to bring all hands of the institution together to
ensure a smooth and rewarding online voyage for both instructor and
student.
At this year’s All Partners Conference, we’ll dive
beneath the surface of e-learning programs from Indiana’s
college and universities and explore best practices in online
teaching, instructional support, program development, student
services, and library support, and institutional policy and planning.
So come aboard and meet the dedicated crew that keeps e-learning
on course in Indiana.
When? Tuesday, April 6, 2004. 8:30am-4:15pm.
