What is the IHETS Tech Summit?

The fifth annual IHETS Tech Summit is intended to offer participants important news and updates about IHETS projects and services. Attendees will also gain insight into new technologies and learn how they could affect and be implemented in their organizations.

This one-day conference will be held November 10, 2004 at the University Place Hotel & Conference Center, located in the heart of the IUPUI campus, on the corner of Michigan Street and University Boulevard in downtown Indianapolis.

Registration begins at 8 a.m. with a continental breakfast. The event will open with a brief welcome and introduction at 9:30 a.m. Sessions will conclude at 3:30 p.m.

Presentations on four key areas will be presented:

  • IHETS Interactive—Learn more about the progress and schedule for completion of IHETS Interactive, the ongoing satellite to streaming initiative. View demonstrations of the technology in action from the perspective of a receive site and an origination site.
  • I-Light2—Negotiations for the dark fiber needed to expand this statewide high-speed network are near completion. Hear the latest news and announcements about the locations of 11 new I-Light2 nodes and “last mile” planning efforts.
  • Network security—Well-designed security policies are crucial but can be difficult to construct. Learn how to create, build, and impart the importance of security policies to technology staff and senior-level management.
  • Wireless—Curious about the current state of Wireless LAN deployment in the workplace? Attend this session to learn simple tools to monitor and control the wireless LAN, in addition to hearing the latest in new WiMAX developments.
