Chairman Kramer called the meeting to order at 1:30pm

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR APPOINTMENT
Kramer stated that King's reappointment as Executive Director of IHETS expires this month. Through an agreement with Purdue University, 10% of King's time is spent working with the Dean of Agriculture at Purdue, and the additional 90% is devoted to IHETS. Following a brief discussion, Smitherman moved that King's appointment be extended through September 2004. Voss seconded the motion and it was unanimously approved.

FALL BOARD MEETING
King noted that typically the Board of Director would meet in the fall. About a week ago, he had the opportunity to demonstrate the Indiana Learning Portal for Scott Masey, Indiana Humanities Council; Barbara Maxwell, Indiana State Library; and, William Plater, IUPUI. Following that demonstration, Plater offered to host a combined demonstration of the ILP prototype and the SmartDesktop at IUPUI and a reception following. The date for the event is Tuesday, December 9, 4p-6p at the IUPUI Library. King proposed that we forgo a fall Board meeting and invite them to attend this event instead. The group agreed.

SEARCH UPDATE
King reported that the search process for the Director of Operations is underway. A Screening Committee including Brian Voss, Lou Jensen, Barrie Zimmerman, Fred Nay, Susan Scott and Justin Kamm was appointed. We have set up a private WebBoard to assist with the review process and there are currently some 30 applications for review. The plan is to have a short list of candidates by the end of November and a recommendation for review by the Management Committee at the January meeting.

The next Management Committee meeting is scheduled for November 18 at 10:00a. With no further business to discuss, the meeting adjourned at 1:45p
