INDIANAPOLIS—The Indiana Higher Education Telecommunication System (IHETS) has awarded $250,000 in grants funds to support the development of programs delivered via technology.

This past March, 15 grants were awarded in an open competition among proposals from faculty at all Indiana colleges and universities and were based in part on the program’s ability to significantly contribute to compelling unmet needs in Indiana.

IHETS is a consortium of all higher education institutions in Indiana that includes the seven public colleges and universities as well as 31 independent colleges and universities.

“Rapid developments in the knowledge marketplace suggest that traditional three credit hour courses are only part of what is needed to meet the educational goals of many learners,” said Dave King, executive director at IHETS. “This year, we shifted the focus of our annual grants program to support the development of e-learning modules that can be used as part of current courses or be made available to individuals directly in their homes.”

The maximum amount of a single award was $15,000 for a single learning module and $20,000 for a set of modules. An institutional match of at least one-half of the grant request was required.

Funded proposals include:
