Appendix A: Checklist for connection to IHETS Television
NOTE: The lease for the satellite system will expire June 30, 2006. IHETS will not support the system after that time and is offering a new service, IHETS Interactive, to replace it. This information is provided for historical purposes. No new letters of understanding will be accepted.
All sites: Send a letter or call to request a satellite information
packet to connect to IHETS Television.
All sites: Identify funding for those items for which your site is responsible.
All sites: Complete and sign the Request for IHETS Television Service and Preliminary Site Information Survey forms which are included in the satellite information packet.
Members: Have the campus chief administrative officer sign the Letter of Understanding, which is included with the information packet, and mail to IHETS.
Nonmembers: Complete the Letter of Understanding by providing the organization name and contact information and mail to the IHETS office.
Members: Send the signed Letter of Understanding, along with the names of the TV reception coordinator and TV technical coordinator, to your institution’s IHETS Management Committee representative.
Nonmembers: Prepare a purchase order for an on-site engineering study for turnkey installation of a satellite antenna system and downlink control unit. Send the purchase order to Advanced Microwave, 3622 Chapel Road, Hamilton, Ohio 45013, Ph: 513.738.5115; Fax: 513.738.5111. A copy of the purchase order should also be sent to IHETS. Advanced Microwave will contact the person listed on the Preliminary Site Information Survey form and schedule a visit to determine installation requirements and the cost for an installed system.
All sites: Plan for the installation of the classroom student Digital TeleResponse System. Order equipment from IHETS and arrange for installation locally. The Advanced Microwave contractor can provide you with a quote for installation of Digital TeleResponse as well as any built-in TV cabling needed to complete the system.
Nonmembers: Upon completion of the on-site study, Advanced Microwave will provide a price quote for installation at your site. To proceed with connection, a purchase order should be issued to Advanced Microwave for the equipment and work required. A copy should be sent to IHETS.
All sites: Advanced Microwave will schedule installation of your receive system. When installation is complete, Advanced Microwave will arrange testing with IHETS and work with the IHETS Video Network Operations Center engineer to complete verbal certification.
All Indiana sites: After installation is completed, an IHETS engineer will contact your site to schedule a visit for inspection and certify your site for program reception.
