Information for receive site coordinators
NOTE: The lease for the satellite system will expire June 30, 2006. IHETS will not support the system after that time and is offering a new service, IHETS Interactive, to replace it.
Receive site coordinators are at the hub of distance education for the satellite service. These individuals are the direct contacts for the institutions to the students and vice versa. They are the people who know how to operate the equipment, troubleshoot it, arrange for repairs, act as proctors for exams, help find another site in an emergency, perform the dual role as a learning center coordinator, and many more things. The information here runs the gamut from site operation and student assistance to network policy and scheduling.
IHETS has an exhaustive database that includes receive site locations, contact information, origination and reception coordinators at the various member institutions, and various interfaces to obtain the specific information by state, county, city, school, business, or site code. There is also a user handbook that goes into detail about how the IHETS network operates as well as a remote schedule for what is being programmed daily.
