Paperwork: Process and return to originator in timely fashion (keep
in mind needs of originator in terms of deadlines, etc.).
Create a schedule of courses you are receiving.
Schedule rooms and equipment.
Check to see that equipment is in working order. Know how to use it.
Make a list of students by course as they call in for information,
listing day time phone numbers.
Make a list of contact people at IHETS and the originators you will
be dealing with, including names and phone numbers. Post for use by
anyone needing to solve problems during the semester. Include names
and numbers for:
Administrative staff at originating institution
Originating studio
Faculty member
IHETS control room
IHETS technical staff
Alert security and other building and administrative staff who might
encounter these students.
Give room/class schedule to staff who will open rooms.
Put out directional signs in building for first few sessions and monthly
only classes.
Be prepared to give directions to your campus, building, parking,
room to new students.
During the course
Arrive early and be in the room to:
Turn on and test equipment.
Introduce yourself.
Give students your phone number and any other they can call for
help during the broadcast or between broadcasts.
Make sure everyone there belongs.
Train new students on the equipment (TV, IHETS Digital TeleResponse
[DTR], VCR).
Explain any problems they might encounter and should call in to
IHETS on the help line.
Explain how to get the room open in the event that it is not unlocked.
Tell where facilities are: restrooms, lounge, cafeteria, vending
area, etc.
Explain what to do at the end of class (turn off equipment, shut
door, etc.)
Put an experienced student in charge for the semester.
Check in regularly during the semester to see how things are going.
Test equipment weekly during and/or outside of class time.
Turn on TV and view signal.
Call the IHETS control room on the DTR.
Offer extra services as needed.
Video taping of missed classes (you check with faculty first).
Monitor tests.
Provide fax, email, and computer services as needed.
Troubleshoot as needed.
