INDIANAPOLIS—The Indiana College Network (ICN) has added 43 new degree programs from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College to its program catalog for distance education students. The partnership brings the total number of degree and certificate programs available through ICN to 195.

A pioneer in the area of distance education, Saint Mary-of-the-Woods founded one of the first independent study programs in the nation. Through ICN, the college will offer undergraduate, certificate, and licensure programs in specialty areas including business, science, computer information systems, education, liberal arts, not-for-profit administration, and more.

A service of the Indiana Higher Education Telecommunication System (IHETS), ICN is a gateway to distance learning opportunities at Indiana colleges and universities. Its Web site offers students a searchable online catalog of more than 2,000 classes and nearly 200 certificate and degree programs in Indiana. With 70 learning centers across the state, ICN also offers strong student support in the form of enrollment assistance, tutoring, education and career counseling, computing and library services, and a toll-free hotline.

“ICN is pleased to partner with Saint Mary-of-the-Woods to bring more educational opportunities to distance learners around the state,” said Susan Scott, IHETS’ director of e-learning. “These well-established programs are opening new doors for many Hoosier adults, many of whom report they would have never gotten to start or complete a college degree without distance learning opportunities.”

Other ICN members include Ball State University, Indiana State University, Indiana University, Ivy Tech State College, Purdue University, University of Southern Indiana, Vincennes University, Indiana Wesleyan University, Taylor University Lifelong Learning Center, and Saint Francis University.
