Stillerman receives IEEE Region 4 Outstanding Member Award

Stillerman has been an IEEE member since 1999 and has served the organization as Region Four's secretary, vice-chairman, and chairman. In 2003, he chaired IEEE's annual Region Four Electro-Information Technology conference. Currently, Stillerman serves as director of IEEE's Central Indiana Section.

INDIANAPOLIS—Alan Stillerman, a six-year IHETS employee, received the Region Four Outstanding Member Award from the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), at their Sections Congress on October 14 in Tampa.

IEEE’s Region Four includes 23,000 members and covers all or part of Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, and Iowa.

The annual award recognizes IEEE members whose professional and technical abilities have made significant contributions to the organization.

Stillerman is a senior product research analyst at IHETS, where he is responsible for designing and implementing procedures to research and evaluate new telecommunications products, such as video-conferencing systems, codecs, Web-conferencing systems, and IP telephony. Stillerman is actively involved in pilot testing for IHETS Interactive, a new Web-based video conferencing system built using Macromedia Breeze's Meeting as the underlying platform.
