Released: January 12, 2005 INDIANAPOLIS—Through a partnership with the Indiana Higher Education Telecommunication System (IHETS), the Indiana Telecommunications Network, Indiana Public Broadcasting Stations, and the Indiana Department of Education, live video streaming of the inaugural ceremonies for Governor-Elect Mitch Daniels was available on the state’s official inauguration Web site at http://doe.state.in.us/inauguration. IHETS provided the live and archival streaming service and servers to make the event accessible online. This was an opportunity for the general public to be a part of Indiana history and view the inauguration, which took place at the Pepsi Coliseum at the Indiana State Fairgrounds on January 10, 2005. The inauguration included four elected state officials taking their oath of office: Governor Mitch Daniels, Lt. Governor Becky Skillman, Attorney General Steve Carter, and Superintendent of Public Instruction Suellen Reed. According to IHETS staff, the event drew more than 450 citizens who viewed the "live" video stream of the ceremony (the stream appeared with a 15-second delay but was otherwise live in real-time).
