INDIANAPOLIS—IHETS is again partnering with WFYI to provide Internet streaming services for the 7th quadrennial International Violin Competition of Indianapolis. In 2002, the two organizations joined forces to provide audio streaming of the 6th quadrennial competition. This year, both video and audio coverage will be provided.

Each performance during this prestigious event, one of the most respected music competitions in the world, will be streamed live on the event Web site. The competition includes preliminaries, semi-finals, medalists' recital, classical finals, romantic finals, and a closing ceremony. Each performance will also be archived for on-demand viewing after the competition has ended and the winners have been announced.

The international violin competition will be held September 1–17, 2006. Four Indianapolis venues—the Indiana History Center, The Christel DeHaan Fine Arts Center, the Hilbert Circle Theatre, and the Scottish Rite Cathedral—will be featured.

Through its new digital media services group, IHETS engineers and analysts are collaborating with staff at WFYI (Metropolitan Indianapolis Public Broadcasting, Inc.) and each of the venues to complete preliminary testing and staging. WFYI will provide commentation during each performance. IHETS will manage the streaming process and servers, provide the required bandwidth, and have personnel on-site for troubleshooting during each performance.

IHETS has a long partnership with WFYI , providing them with Internet streaming, connectivity, bandwidth and other services for their television and radio operations, as well as special outreach projects like IRIS, a service for the print-impaired who can not read normal print due to physical impairments, learning disorders, or illiteracy.
