Greetings! As students cram for final exams and faculty are busy calculating course grades, IHETS has been preparing for what we hope will be a bright new year for everyone with a stake in Indiana’s educational future.
The IHETS Board of Directors, its operating committees, and many others are actively engaging in work we believe will revitalize the consortium in 2007 which, coincidentally, is the 40th anniversary
2006 has been challenging, but solid plans for strengthening IHETS’ technology and e-learning services in the year ahead—eliminating those that are no longer needed or effective, exploring new services to better serve our members and partners, and improving member outreach—are well underway. We are working to better balance the organization, find new revenue streams, and partner with Indiana and Purdue universities in managing the state’s higher education network.
We view this key time in our history as an opportunity to synergistically and strategically restructure IHETS. I am confident IHETS is focused on mission-critical tasks that will help it serve the consortium, state, and most importantly Hoosier students, efficiently and effectively for the next 40 years.
The consortium has greatly assisted during this transitional period by the outstanding leadership and service of its interim director, Dr. Bill Kramer. Bill and I invite you to share your thoughts and comments with us about how IHETS can better meet Indiana’s educational technology needs, both now and in the future. All ideas and suggestions sent to communications@ihets.org will be forwarded to us.
We also invite you to learn more about IHETS—talk to members of the board or one of our operating committees. Explore our Web site. And consider how IHETS can help you deliver outstanding higher educational opportunities and reach new levels of outreach to students and citizens of all ages and backgrounds.
With best wishes for a wonderful holiday season,
Lloyd Benjamin III
President, Indiana State University
Chair, IHETS Board of Directors
