Appropriation request timeline

The Commission for Higher Education supported the IHETS 2007-09 budget as requested (state appropriations requested were $4.8 million for 2007-08, $4.9 million for 2008-09); the Governor’s budget recommendations (page 72) included $2.8 and $2.9 million respectively and included $2 million each year for Indiana University for the Indiana Higher Education Network operations (page 70); the House budget recommended the full amount requested by IHETS (page 74) and also recommended $9 million for IHETS for the I-Light2 Black Fiber (page 50). On Tuesday, March 13, IHETS presented its budget request to the Senate Appropriations Committee.  Final outcome of the appropriations request probably won’t be known until late April.

The IHETS Executive Committee continues to work with Interim Director Dr. Bill Kramer in exploring ways to communicate to the legislative leadership the plans and budget needs of the IHETS consortium.
