Technical requirements, registration, validation, and self-testing for receive sites

Technical requirements

All receive sites are responsible for purchasing, installing, and maintaining the equipment needed to support IHETS Interactive. One advantage of the service, however, is that it uses common desktop computers; in fact, you may already have one or more systems that meet the hardware, software, and bandwidth requirements. It is possible to participate in an IHETS Interactive session on a computer that does not meet these specifications, but the quality of the experience may be unsatisfactory. Therefore, we require authorized receive sites to meet or exceed IHETS’ hardware specifications.

Receive site registration and validation process

IHETS has a database that provides addresses, contact information, and other data for locations serving as authorized IHETS Interactive receive sites. Originators will be able to search this database to locate sites to host their classes.

To become an authorized receive site for IHETS Interactive, complete these steps:

1. Register. Once you have identified or acquired the equipment to support IHETS Interactive, please complete our receive site registration form. The data you provide will be used to register your site with the IHETS Interactive receive site database.
   
   
2. Complete the self test and obtain IHETS validation. For optimal performance and the best possible user experience, each computer to be used with IHETS Interactive must be tested for proper configuration and compatibility. First, complete the brief self test on each machine. When complete, contact the IHETS Help Desk to schedule your site validation. During your validation, IHETS staff will conduct additional testing to confirm your desktop system(s) and network can accommodate Web conferencing.

When these two components of the process are complete, your facility and location will be added to our database as an authorized IHETS Interactive receive site.
