Dear students:
Portions of this class will be conducted online via IHETS Interactive, a Web conferencing system that facilitates live communication and collaboration over the Internet. This message provides the information you'll need to participate in our online sessions. Please save it so you can refer to it in the future.
Our online sessions will be held in a virtual meeting room. The meeting room URL and schedule are provided below:
Meeting room URL: <URL>
Online meeting schedule: <dates or days of the week and times>
System requirements
To participate in these sessions, you will need access to a Pentium 4 or Macintosh G5 computer with a broadband Internet connection and a headset with microphone or speakers and a microphone. Detailed hardware and software recommendations are available at:
http://www.ihets.org/progserv/dms/meeting/SystemRequirements.html
If you do not have a system at home or work that meets these requirements, you may be able to use a computer at a local library, learning center, or IHETS Interactive receive site.
Getting started with IHETS Interactive
Before your first online session, please complete the IHETS Interactive self test to determine whether your computer and network connection can be used. The self test will also guide you through a simple software installation and configuration process. To start the self test, go to:
http://www.ihets.org/progserv/dms/meeting/support/selftest.html
If you have problems completing the self test, please contact the IHETS Help Desk for assistance (317.263.8999 or toll free: 1.800.246.7615).
How to login to the meeting room
[The following section about "registered users" should only be included in your notification if the access policy for your meeting room is named users]
Logging in as a registered user (use this method if you have an IHETS Interactive login and password)
Your account information should have been sent to you in a separate e-mail. If you have not yet received it, please let me know and follow the instructions under Logging in as a guest:
There are two ways to enter the meeting room as a registered user:
- Open your browser and go directly to the meeting room URL (listed with the meeting room information above). Enter your login and password in the box for registered users and click Login. The meeting room will open in a new window.
- Open your browser and go to http://interactive.ihets.org. Enter your login and password at the prompt to get to the Breeze Manager home page. Look for the meeting room under My Scheduled Meetings (if you can’t find it, try clicking more…). Click Enter to open the meeting room in a new window.
If you forget your password at any time, go to http://interactive.ihets.org and click the Forgot your password link. Fill out the form and a message with instructions on how to reset your password will be sent to your e-mail account.
[This marks the end of the section for registered users. Be sure to include the remainder of the message in your notification message.]
Use this method if you don’t have an IHETS Interactive login and password or if you are logging in from an IHETS Interactive receive site:
Open your browser and go directly to the meeting room URL (listed with the meeting room information above). On the main login page, refer to the Enter as Guest box and choose Click to Enter. When prompted to enter your name, enter your full name, or, if you are at an IHETS Interactive receive site, the name of your receive site location. Click Enter to open the meeting room in a new window. If the meeting room is private, you may need to wait until the host approves your request.
Enter the meeting room at least 5-10 minutes before our online session is scheduled to start. As soon as you enter the room, run the Audio Setup Wizard as described in the quick start guide. It’s important to run the wizard every time you enter the room to ensure your microphone and speakers are properly configured before the session begins. It takes 60 to 90 seconds to complete the process.
Several documents are available to help you get started using IHERS Interactive. Please print and review these guides before our first session and keep them nearby whenever you are using the system:
