IHETS video conferencing

Creating a project number

All two-way IHETS IP video conferencing requests require a project number following a specific format. Authorized originators from member institutions who submit scheduling requests, as well as those who need change to already scheduled events, must have a project number. If not, IHETS cannot accept the request(s).

IHETS IP video conferencing project numbers have four components:

  1. Originatng institution: A series of letters that identify the originating institution. Use the same abbreviation or series of letters to identify your institution in all video conferencing requests.
  2. Numbers that identify this video conference from others. These numbers are randomly assigned by the originating institution. Once assigned, the same number should consistently be used to designate specific courses or particular programs. For instance, an institution might assign the numbers “08” to represent a course titled “Financial Management in Health.” The institution is then responsible for tracking and using this number when making scheduling requests or changes.
  3. Fall, spring, or summer semester designation, (i.e., F = fall, S = spring, and M = summer.
  4. Last two digits of current calendar year (i.e., “06” for 2006, “07” for 2007).

Example

Using the project number BSU01F01, it would be broken down into the following four components

  1. BSU = Originating institution
  2. 01 = Project number
  3. F = fall
  4. 01 = year
