IP Video Information for Technology Coordinators

What is IP video and how does it work?

Codecs

IP video is assembled via a codec (a COder/DECoder), which acts like a television. Rather than picking up broadcast signals from the air and turning those signals into audio and video, a codec receives audio and video in data format and turns it into audio/visual signals that are displayed on a monitor. A computer may be an integrated part of the codec, or the codec may be a separate piece of hardware that is hooked up to an existing computer.
