Overview

IHETS administers a variety of programs and services designed to assist our member institutions with their efforts to improve, increase, and enhance educational opportunities and access for Hoosiers of all ages.

Distance education opportunities

Many of these services touch learners directly, delivering educational content or information about educational content to Indiana schools, businesses, and homes. The Indiana College Network, for example, provides comprehensive access to the combined distributed learning activities and services of 40 Indiana college and university campuses, including a searchable online catalog of nearly 3,500 classes per semester and hundreds of certificate and degree programs.

Collaboration

Through the Internet2 K-20 Initiative, students in schools at all levels can collaborate with experts around the world and participate in highly engaging learning activities. New projects currently under development in partnership with other educational organizations in Indiana will put a wealth of educational content—much of it developed by our members—at the fingertips of teachers and learners throughout the state.

Professional development

Rather than serving learners directly, other IHETS programs are aimed at helping member institutions increase their capacity and ability to develop and deliver high quality educational programs. Most of the programs in this category are targeted for faculty and instructional technologists.

The All Partners Conference is an annual professional development event where faculty and administrators from around the state can share best practices in online teaching, learning, and student support. Faculty and instructional support staff who have exhibited outstanding leadership and innovation in online teaching and learning are recognized through the IPSE Awards program. The Virtual Brownbag Series is a professional development program for instructional technologists and faculty interested in sharing information and ideas on a wide range of topics related to using technology for teaching and learning.
