Session Description:
Active learning takes place in an environment that is dynamic and flexible. PowerPoint is a widely used product but often gets blamed for producing boring or static presentations. This session will explore how PowerPoint presentations can be as dynamic and flexible as the faculty delivering the instruction and can actively engage students.
About the Presenter:
Bruce Drummond joined Indiana State University in January 2002. In 2000 he completed his Masters of Arts in instructional design and technology with an emphasis in computer based instruction at the University of Iowa. At Iowa he held the position of coordinator of multimedia production in the College of Education, and most recently was the director of the Instructional Technology Resource Center in the Office of Information Technology at West Virginia University. He has just accepted the position of Online Course Developer at the University Iowa, starting September 25th.
He has worked on the development and implementation of a model for the creation, production, and delivery of online course materials. The model is designed to assist faculty in developing online course content in a way that is familiar to the faculty member. His key interest is making the delivery of online course materials an easier process and incorporating computer based interactivity.
